How To Arrange A Living Room
Arranging a living room may seem like a daunting task for some. What furniture goes where? How do you add a rug to the room? That’s why we’ve put together this blog post with tips on how to make arranging a living room easier.
The first thing to do is measure the size of your living room. This will give you an idea of what size furniture can fit in the room before you buy it. Also, figure out how you will use the room, for example, will it be a place to watch movies and entertain, or will it be a place to have conversations with friends? You can buy furniture according to what the room will be used for.
Establish a focal point in the room. The focal point can be anything, a TV, fireplace, windows with a view, etc. Once you have the focal point figured out, arrange furniture around the point.

The entryway to your living room should be kept clear of any furniture and rugs so that you and your guests may be able to easily access the room and not worry about bumping into furniture. Similarly, your furniture should follow the 3 ft. rule. There should be 3 ft. of walking space around the entire room so you don’t bump into furniture. This rule also applies to any dressers or furniture with doors for opening space.

When placing your furniture in your living room don’t put your furniture all the way up against the wall. Pull your chairs and sofas off the wall about twelve inches. This will make your room feel more welcoming and won’t leave you with a lot of unused space. If you plan on having a rug in your living room make sure that all the legs for furniture near it are either on the rug completely or not at all.

Be mindful of the size of your lamp shades. With shades that are too big they could end up getting knocked over or be in people’s faces and may poke people. Electrical cords and wires should be kept out of the way of walking spaces so no one will trip over them.
